Adventurous contemporary art as a catalyst for transforming the corporate culture.

The Talkback/Listen arts program was a catalyst for change: designed to spur innovation, transform organizational culture, and reposition the FBS brand competitively in a deregulated environment.

Shattering established boundaries of “appropriate” art for the workplace, the collection of over 4,000 works of challenging international contemporary art delved into critical issues of gender, politics, class, and representation.

Interactive employee communications programs like Talkback, Controversy Corridor, and You Be The Curator fostered deeper involvement with contemporary cultural and social issues, and provided a forum for exploring new ways of meeting the challenges facing the organization.

Collaborations between artists, employees and stakeholders enhanced FBS’ customer relationships and its role in the community; engaging the arts to give voice to diverse points of view, encourage dialogue, and effect positive change.

Talkback / Listen was developed in collaboration with artists in residence, internal marketing and organizational development personnel, and external management consultants. Intense ongoing interest in the experiential program resulted in dozens of positive features (“Where Art Is Accountable”, “FBS’s Nobel Experiment”, “a paradigm of progressive thinking…”) tracking the project in the international business, arts and mainstream media.
