Burns Sowder begins consulting to MUJI, the Japanese retail company known for its minimalist design philosophy, emphasis on recycling, avoidance of waste in production and packaging, and no-logo or “no-brand” policy. Lynne is advising on the creation of a new program centered around a major event scheduled for Spring 2011 in New York City to celebrate MUJI’s 30th Anniversary and its retail stores in Soho, Chelsea and Times Square. Also marking the anniversary is the book MUJI, with essays by Bruce Mau, Naoto Kenya Hara, Masaaki Kanai and others, published by Rizzoli and selected as one of Fast Company’s Best Design Books of 2010.
