We’ve always been very excited by Stephen Burks / Readymade Projects, a New York based industrial design studio that has created packaging, environments, and products for clients including Calvin Klein, Missoni, Aid to Artisans, and the Nature Conservancy.
Burks is on the forefront of a new design attitude and practice. He combines the traditional artisan’s approach with cutting edge technology, bridges the developing world with the international market, and creates beautiful work with a sophisticated understanding of ecological and social issues.
So we were delighted to be invited to work with Burks / Readymade to help the studio refine its communications, expand its practice, and reach out to new potential collaborators and markets.
Readymade’s recent projects include: “Totem”, a tool designed for Australia’s Noonger people to make and package herb based cosmetics for export, and created for the Nature Conservancy’s “Design for the Living World”; and the “Composite Lounge” for the IMM Cologne International Furnishing Show, where Burks was the recipient of this year’s Architektur & Wohnen Audi Mentor Prize as young designer of the year.
